History:
Alfie came into Senior Staffy Club from the pound. When he arrived, he was in a dreadful state. He was one of the worst neglect cases we’ve had in.

He was extremely thin, suffering from severe mange, his skin was very scabby and the hair on his back, tail and back legs was very thin.

He was so incredibly itchy - it was driving him mad, he had elephant skin under his chest and he had a heavy worm burden.

His eyes were in a dreadful state and very infected. He had several broken/rotten teeth which was causing to dribble.

Current:
Alfie is currently in our Worcester kennels and he is a funny, friendly cheeky boy, who loves being with people.

He absolutely adores treats, if you have sweeties - he’ll be your best friend.

Alfie is really starting to settle and loves to climb on the sofa next to you for a cuddle and a snooze.

Walking:
Alfie loves to have a little potter down the lane, he insists on sniffing in all the hedgerows.

He doesn’t need very much exercise, he has weak back legs, the vet thinks this is due to arthritic knees.

Alfie walks lovely on the lead and hasn’t really reacted to anything when out and about.

Travelling:
Alfie has not been tested in the car, but will be soon.

Vets:
The vet comes to kennels to see the dogs, Alfie is always a very good boy for him to complete his health check, blood tests and vaccinations.
During his health check we discovered his teeth were in a bit of a state.

Health:
He has had full health check including blood test. The result came back with low protein and thyroid levels.

He had a repeat blood test and it was confirmed he has an under active thyroid, he currently takes Thyforon tablets for this.

Alfie suffers with arthritic knees, he has a monthly Librella injection and takes Pardale V and Rimadyl tablets to help.

We discovered Alfie's issues with his eyes were due to his eyelashes growing inwards and rubbing his eyes. He was recently operated on to rectify this issue and remove several damaged/rotten teeth - he has been signed off by the vets and is all healed.

Ideal home:
Alfie would need to be the only pet in the home.
Alfie is a Staffy X (possibly boxer) and is larger than your average Staffy. So, due to being arthritic, we feel any children in the home would need to be 12 years +.
Being a stray, we are unsure whether he is house trained, he is however very clean in his kennel and hasn’t had any accidents in our sofa room.
Alfie adores your company and will follow you round, so a home where he isn’t left alone very much would be perfect for him.

Standard information:
Alfie is neutered , microchipped and vaccinated.

He is currently in kennels in Worcester, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Alfie and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
