History:
Bandit came into the Senior Staffy Club with his mum, Megan, after their owner was sadly taken into end-of-life care.
They had been in kennels for just over a week when it became apparent Megan wasn’t well at all. We tried our hardest to save her, but sadly a tumour on her liver was making her anaemic and was also affecting her heart, so sadly we had to let her cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Bandit was very close to Megan and was with her when she crossed the bridge, this seems to have helped him cope with all the change of losing his home, coming into kennels and then losing his mum.
Current:
Bandit is currently at our Worcester kennels. He is a super sweet boy. He is a calm, gentle and friendly lad. He loves a cuddle and repays you with an ear wash!
He loves attention from people and hasn’t shown any reaction to other dogs whilst out and about.
Walking:
Bandit enjoys his walks and loves a little sniff along the way. He walks beautifully on the lead, choosing to stay close to your side on the lanes.
He hasn’t reacted to dogs in their gardens or passing dogs whilst out walking. He lived with Megan all his live and his previous home told us he loves to play with other dogs, though we haven’t tested this whilst in kennels.
When he arrived with us he was quite overweight, so we started his daily walks at 20 minutes and he has done very well with nearly having lost 2kg.
Travelling:
Bandit travels OK in the back of the charity van and is quiet travelling in a car.
Vets:
The vet comes to the kennels to see our dogs. Bandit was perfectly behaved for his examination, health check, blood tests and vaccinations - he just allowed the vet to do his work.
Health:
He has had a full health check, including blood tests. His bloods came back within normal ranges apart from a slightly increased liver enzyme, but our vet isn’t concerned with this.
During his health check, the vet discovered his teeth weren’t great and needed a little attention. So at the end of last month, Bandit had one tooth removed and the rest were cleaned…he has recovered well and is back to his happy self.
Ideal home:
• Bandit could possibly live with another calm dog, this may help him settle as he has always lived with his mum.
• He could live with children aged 8 years +. We don’t think he has lived with children, but he is such a gentle, calm lad - we feel he would be fine.
• Bandit would be OK to be left for up to 4 hours, but loves to be with you when you are home.
• He is house trained, doesn’t chew or bark much.
Standard information:
Bandit is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.
He is currently in kennels in Worcestershire, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.
There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Bandit and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
We aim to acknowledge your application within 48 hours.
