History:
Baxter came into Senior Staffy Club after being found as a stray and we were asked to take him.

Current:
When he first arrived, Baxter was very underweight and had weakness in his back legs, possibly from an old spinal injury. With lots of care, food and love from his foster mum, he’s gaining strength every day.

His foster mum tells us he is a very snuggly boy, who loves to be close to you. He is a good boy relaxing when in the office, while his foster mum works.

Walking:
Baxter doesn’t need long walks, but he does love snuggles and relaxing at home. He’s super affectionate and perfectly happy to chill if you need to go out for a few hours.

On walks, Baxter can be a bit reactive when he sees other dogs, though he’s fine with dogs barking behind fences or gates. With patience and the right support, this could continue to improve.

Travelling:
Baxter ls a great little traveller — calm and content in the car.

Vets:
We use a mobile vet who visits the dogs in their foster homes, so we have not seen him in a vet practice. He was a very good boy, staying calm and still for his health check, blood tests and vaccinations.

Health:
He has had a full health check including blood tests. All results have come back as good for his age.

Baxter was very underweight when he arrived, but with careful feeding he is gaining weight and strength.

He has a weak back end, this may be due to an old spinal injury, the vet has examined him and has confirmed he isn’t in any pain. As a result though, he doesn’t have full control of his bladder and can have little accidents without the use of propalin medication. This medicine has helped him tremendously, but he wears a belly band in the office in case of accidents.

Ideal home:
Baxter has been in foster for three weeks and is already showing how much love and potential he has. He’s looking for someone who can see past his rough start and give him the gentle, loving home he deserves.
He would need to be the only pet in the home.
Due to being a stray, and having no history on him, we feel Bater would be best suited to live with children aged 12 years plus.
Baxter is house trained, he hasn’t been destructive in his foster home at all and he is perfectly happy to chill if you need to go out for a few hours.

Standard information:
Baxter is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.

He is currently in foster in Tamworth, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Baxter and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
