History:
Buster was surrendered to SSC due to his dad's deteriorating health and him no longer being able to care for Buster.
Current:
Buster is currently in a foster home in Newport, Shropshire, where he has been for few weeks.
He has settled amazingly, his foster mum says:
"He is an absolute lovebug of a Staffy. Buster is wonderful - he absolutely loves a hug and a kiss on the sofa and, just like all our Staffies, he has to be stuck to you!
He loves tummy rubs, but we do have to be careful touching his feet, they are very sensitive.
He loves to push up onto your arm and lay on you for loves.
He loves to play with his toys and having a good old roll on the carpet. He will bring his toys to you to play with him, he is a very talkative boy whilst playing".
Walking:
Buster walks very well on the lead in his harness, but he will pull if other dogs are near. If he is far enough away, you can ask him to sit while they pass, he will wait, and then loves a reward and fuss. Other times, he will just totally focus on getting to the other dog.
Travelling:
Buster travels well in the car.
Vets:
The vet comes to kennels to see the dogs, so we have not seen his in a vet practice. We were told by his previous home, Buster wasn’t a fan of the vet, so as a precaution he was muzzled to have treatment on his feet, but apart from that - he has been a good boy with our vet
Health:
When Buster arrived at kennels his skin was really red and inflamed, his elbows were red and raw and his feet were particularly sore. The vet gave him a prescription for Apoquel for his skin and some Cortavance spray for his feet. He has been on these ever since and he is looking good.
He has had a full health check, including blood tests.
After receiving his kennel cough vaccination, Buster developed a cough. This was treated with Synulox and Prednicare, which cleared it up.
The vet thinks he may have a very low grade heart murmur, but this doesn’t require any treatment.
Ideal home:
We were told Buster isn’t very good with dogs. His foster mum has confirmed he does pull when dogs approach him, but he is easily distracted while they pass. For this reason Buster would need to be the only pet in the home.
Buster is a playful boy; he loves interacting with his toys and will talk to you whilst playing.
We are told Buster isn’t keen on smaller children, so we feel he would be best with children aged 14 years plus.
Buster is house trained, he hasn’t been destructive in his foster home at all and he is happy to be left home alone for a few hours.
Standard information:
Buster is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.
He is currently in foster in Shropshire, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.
There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Buster and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
