History:
Charlie came into the Senior Staffy Club after his owner found himself homeless. He reluctantly surrendered Charlie after owning him from 6 months of age.

Current:
Charlie is currently in our Worcester kennels and he has been with us since the end of January.

When he first arrived, he was a little stressed and not wanting to interact with us. He was a busy boy, sniffing and searching in the sofa room.

Over time he has got to know his volunteer walkers and he has settled down. He now enjoys lovely back rolls on the fluffy rugs, he loves his daily dental chew and having cuddles.

Walking:
Charlie walks brilliantly on the lead, he loves his walks and is a very fit boy for his age. He trots along well next to you, not pulling.

Charlie hasn’t really shown any reaction to passing dogs out walking down the lanes, or in their gardens, but he hasn’t experienced any off lead dogs approaching him whilst being with us. He can tense up a little when passing dogs whilst in the kennel environment, so he may not be a fan of dogs in his personal space.

He hasn’t shown any reaction to passing traffic down the lanes.

Charlie seems really happy and relaxed out on his walks and is happy to walk for however long you want to go for.

Travelling:
Charlie hasn’t been used to travelling, but has had a couple of journeys with ourselves. He was a very good boy, he lay down secured in the boot of the car and only gave the occasional wimper. With practice to nice places, we feel he will love his car journeys.

Vets:
The vet comes to kennels to see the dogs. Charlie isn’t a huge fan of the vet, but allowed him to complete his health check, blood tests, and vaccinations with just the odd grumble.

Health:
Charlie has had a full health check, including blood tests, and the vets have confirmed all his bloods are very good for his age.

During the health check, the vet discovered he has a grade two heart murmur...this is a very mild grade, so nothing to be concerned about at his age and he doesn’t need any medication for this.

Charlie had a dental procedure and was neutered on the 3rd Ferbruary. He is now all fully recovered and has started eating well, so will hopefully start gaining some weight.

Ideal home:
Charlie would need to be the only pet in the home, he has never lived with other dogs and, although he doesn’t seem to show interest in other dogs out walking, we do not think he’d be happy living with one.
He could live with children aged 8+. He seems comfortable in the company of children, but given his age we think slightly older children would suit him better.
We think Charlie would be suited to a family home or a quieter older couple home.
Charlie would benefit from a home where people are about a fair bit. We are told he is fine to be left on his own for several hours, but we know if left too long he does have accidents, he’s 15 so his bladder isn’t as strong as it used to be.

Standard information:
Charlie is microchipped, neutered and has started his vaccinations.

He is currently in kennels in Worcester and he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Charlie and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
