History:
Frankie came into the Senior Staffy Club from the pound, where he was picked up as a stray. He completed his 7 days, but wasn’t claimed. So we don’t have any history on Frankie,
Current:
Frankie is currently in our Worcester kennels and he has been with us for 2 months.
When he first arrived, he was really quite withdrawn and not very confident at all. With time and gentle handling, he is now a gentle and calm boy who adores cuddles on the sofa. He loves to sit on the sofa with his head on your chest.
He was very underweight when he arrived and has steadily gained weight. We think he is now spot on at 39kg. Frankie is very treat orientated, and takes them nicely, this makes training easy.
Walking:
We feel Frankie has led a very sheltered life and not experienced much at all. On his early walks, we felt every walk led to new experiences for him. He has taken everything in his stride and is a super dog.
He walks very well on the lead. He's either next to you, or just in front of you, and he doesn’t pull. He has been walking great in the company of Archie and hasn’t really shown any reaction to him.
He has looked at dogs when passing them in their in gardens and other on-lead dogs out walking, but he happily walks past. Frankie hasn’t been dog tested and hasn’t experienced off lead dogs approaching him.
He hasn’t shown any reaction to passing traffic down the lanes.
He really enjoys lovely long walks and a favourite of his is through the woods where there are lots of smells. He loves a good roll in the long grass too.
Travelling:
TBC.
Vets:
The vet comes to kennels to see the dogs and Frankie is always a very good boy for him to complete his health check, blood tests and vaccinations.
Health:
He has had a full health check, including blood tests, and the vets have confirmed that all his blood are within the normal ranges for his age.
When Frankie arrived, we thought his eyes looked a little red and sore, the vet checked them and he had ulcers in both eyes. Treatment was started straight away. The right eye healed immediately, however the left has proved to be a little more stubborn. He has been having treatment and last week he had his eye scraped, so we are hopeful this will heal soon.
Ideal home:
• Frankie would need to be the only pet in the home, he seems interested in other dogs, but he has not been tested with them.
• He would need to be rehomed in an adult only home, without visiting children, unless they were older teenagers. The reason for this is that he was recently child tested and he was overly interested in the child and became quite distressed.
• Frankie would need a calm quiet home, where he can be introduced to household noises.
• Being a stray, we are unsure whether he is house trained, he is however very clean in his kennel and hasn’t had any accidents in our sofa room.
Standard information:
Frankie is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.
He is currently in our Worcester kennels, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.
There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Frankie and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
