History:

Hank came into Senior Staffy Club after he was finding living with a toddler very stressful.

Current:

Hank is currently in kennels in Worcestershire. When he arrived, he found the change very very stressful. He wasn’t a brave boy and didn’t want to be touched. He would stand at the back of his run, crouched down at a safe distance from us.

It took several weeks, just sitting outside his kennel run, chatting to him and singing to him, slowly gaining his trust.

As soon as you gain his trust, he is the most amazing boy! He is an energetic, excitable ball of fun. He loves to play ball and has absolutely loved playing in his paddling pool.

He is a good boy with his sit commands and will gently give his paw when asked. He takes his treats gently.

Walking:

Hank is very scared of the outside world. The funny, playful boy you see when he is in his safe space fades.

He really doesn’t enjoy walks, he finds them stressful, and we are told from his previous home he is reactive. So, initially walks would need to be put on hold - games and enrichment activities in the garden would be preferable until you have built a bond and you could build up quiet walks.

Travelling:

Hank is a good boy travelling. He sat in the boot of the car and you wouldn’t have known he was there.

Vets:

We use a mobile vet, who visits the dogs at kennels, so we have not seen him in a vet practice. He was very unsure and scared when he saw the vet, but he bravely allowed the vet to vaccinate him without any problems.

Health:

He has had a full health check including blood tests. When his blood test results came back, they were all good.

Ideal home:

Hank will need to be the only pet in the home, we are told from his previous owners he is reactive. We have not tested how reactive he is due to him being so shut down on arrival. He has coped very well being in kennels though.

We have discovered Hank is petrified of the outside world, so a quiet rural area (or access close by to this) would be perfect. Somewhere where he can relax and learn to enjoy his walks away from off lead dogs and crowds.

A decent sized garden with a 6ft secure fencing would be ideal. It may take him several weeks/months to feel happy out walking, so having a safe space to play is a must.

Hank isn’t a fan of small children, so older teenage children would be great for him. As he does love to play, especially with a ball and a paddling pool.

Hank is house trained.

Hank doesn’t enjoy being left home alone, so someone who is home the majority of the time would suit him best.

Standard information:

Hank is microchipped, vaccinated and will be neutered.

He is currently in kennels in Worcestershire, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least several times where he is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Hank and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
