History:
Max came to us at SSC due to his owner's ill health, which meant they could no longer care for him.

Current:
Max is currently in our Worcester kennels. He is a firm favourite with the kennel staff and volunteer walkers.

He is a friendly boy who really loves to climb on your lap for cuddles. He loves kisses and can be a big, boisterous goofball.

He lived with a female Staffy until his mum became poorly and they both went to kennels. They were not bonded, so the decision was made to not rehome them together.

Walking:
Max can be a little strong initially when he comes out of kennels, but soon settles into his walk and then walks very well on the lead.

He walks very well in the company of other kennel dogs and he appears to be dog friendly. Recently, he didn’t react when three dogs came rushing up to him whilst on his walk through the woods with one of his volunteer walkers.

He isn’t fazed by passing traffic .

Travelling:
Max travels well in the charity van. He has a little sing before settling down and snuggling in his bed.

Vets:
We use a mobile vet who visits the dogs at kennels. Max is generally a good boy for the vet, just having the occasional grumble.

Health:
He has had a full health check, including blood tests. All results have come back as normal for his age.

When Max arrived, he had a huge lump under his chin/on his throat. His previous vets drained it twice, but it returned both times.

Our vet removed the lump and histology results confirmed it was a benign.

Max was neutered on 11th November and whilst under anaesthetic, he also had a broken tooth removed.

He is all completely healed now.

Ideal home:
Max lived with a dog before coming into kennels, so he may be able to live with a calm female after careful introductions.
We are told Max isn’t great around smaller children, this hasn’t been tested, but he is quite boisterous. For this reason, we feel he would be best suited to live with children aged 14 years plus.
Max has been clean in his kennels, but we have not tested him in a home, so can’t be 100% certain he is house trained.
Max can cope with very short periods on his own, however he would prefer someone who is home lots.

Standard information:
Max is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.

He is currently in kennel in Worcester, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Max and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
