Rosco

SEX: Male
AGE: 10 years old
LOCATION: In Foster in Worcestershire
TEMPERAMENT: Loving, friendly goofball, can get excitable.
CHILDREN: 10 years+ due to size
DOGS: We were previously advised that Rosco may be reactive around other dogs. However, during his time in kennels and foster care, we have not observed any signs of reactivity. He has interacted nose to nose with other dogs in controlled environments without any issues. That said, we always recommend exercising caution during any introductions with dogs, as behaviour can vary depending on the situation.
CATS: Rosco has not been cat tested, but he shows a high prey-drive – he is very interested in and chases squirrels and birds – so he may not be suitable to live with cats.
WEIGHT: 28KG

History:
Rosco’s journey has been one of heartbreak, survival and quiet resilience.

Rosco was lost – or possibly stolen – back in 2018. His devoted owner never gave up searching for him, always holding out hope of his return. Sadly, Rosco was only recently handed in to the dog warden as a stray and when they tried to contact his owner, they discovered he had recently passed away.

Rosco’s condition was heartbreaking – extremely malnourished and in poor health – he has clearly been through so much. We have no history on this poor boy, but what we do know is that he’s safe now and getting the care he desperately needs.

Current:
Due to his condition, Rosco was immediately placed in foster care where he has truly begun to shine. In a short time, he has flourished: gaining weight, confidence and letting his gentle, lovable nature take center stage. His foster parents describe him as “The perfect dog with not a bad bone in his body”.

Rosco is a charming goofball at heart. He loves to play with his ball and toys, often entertaining himself and anyone watching with his silly antics. He is also a loyal companion and likes to keep an eye on his people – if you are out of sight, he’ll quietly make sure he knows where you are.

He has already shown he can be left alone for a couple of hours, in the words of his fosters, “He is the most perfect boy”.

Walking:
Walks are one of his absolute favourite things. The excitement is real – Rosco happily tosses his lead around when he knows it's time to head out. Seeing him so happy has been, as his foster parents put it, “A real pleasure”.

Travelling:
He travels perfectly in the car and just lies down. You wouldn’t know he is in the car with you.

Vets:
Our vets come to us to see the dogs so we have not seen him in a vet environment, but whilst being examined he was the perfect gentleman. He has had a full health check.

Health:
Rosco did come to us extremely malnourished and his health check results showed crystals in his urine, so he is currently on a urinary diet and being fed regularly to bring his weight up in a controlled manner. Other than this, all his blood work came back within normal ranges for his age.

Ideal home:
What Rosco truly needs now is a home – a calm, loving place where he can rest, heal and finally experience the life he should have had all along. He deserves a fresh start with love, stability and the gentle care he has missed for too long.

We are looking for a home that will match his warmth, playfulness and unwavering love.

He would benefit from someone being home most of the day and being with a fairly active person/family as he just loves his walks.
As he is still putting on weight, we estimate he may reach approximately 30-32kg so will need someone able to handle his size (he is larger than your average Staffy). He can be strong on the lead when a smell takes his fancy.

Rosco is an utterly remarkable rescue dog – he’s a reminder of just how much animals can endure and yet how much they can still give, even after everything.

If you have room in your heart and home for a beautiful soul like Rosco, please do get in touch. He is a very special boy who deserves a very special home. His next chapter is waiting to be written, with you.

Standard information:
Rosco is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

He is currently in foster in Worcestershire, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Rosco and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
