History:
Ruby came into us at SSC due to her owners struggling to take care of her.

Current:
Ruby just loves to be around her favourite people. She’ll snuggle on the sofa with you, or just nap in her bed near you. She likes to play with her toys and enjoys the odd game of tug. She really just wants to be around you, whatever you’re doing.

She knows her commands, sit, paw, wait, off, bed, etc., and will happily show them off for tasty treats. She does the cutest little head cock when she’s listening to you.

She’ll alert you to visitors, but once they’re in the house she just wants to make friends with them and give them licks.

She’s a happy girl, but can be nervous of new experiences, so needs plenty of reassurance to help build her confidence.

Walking:
Ruby stands nicely to put her harness, then once outside the house she’s keen to get going with her walk and get plenty of sniffs in. After a few minutes she settles into a nice walking pace with loose lead.

She can be reactive with other dogs out and about, particularly if approached by dogs off lead, but this can be managed by either distracting her or making sure there is plenty of space between her and the other dog.

She prefers to do her toileting on walks, so morning and evening works well, with occasional garden breaks during the day.

Travelling:
Ruby travels well in the car, she likes to sit on the seat and look out of the window.

Vets:
The vet comes kennels to see the dogs. Ruby isn’t a fan of the vets. We were told by her previous owners, she has been very nervous ever since being given the kennel cough vaccination.

Health:
She has had a full health check including blood tests. All her bloods came back within normal ranges for her age.

She had several little lumps/skin tags, these have been removed and she has healed nicely.

Ideal home:
Ruby would definitely need to be the only pet in the home. Her previous family tell us she is she is leash reactive towards other dogs. When off lead she is good with male dogs. We have not tested this.

She could live with children aged 10 years +, she is quite a bouncy, high energy dog and could knock smaller children over.

Ruby would need people who are retired, or work from home, as she suffers from separation anxiety. Time alone would need to be built up gradually.

She is house trained.

Standard information:
Ruby is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.

She is currently in foster in Worcestershire, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her at least twice where she is now.

There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Ruby, and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
