History:
Sapphire came in to us in September due to being left alone for long hours and not being walked.
This resulted in some unwanted chewing behaviour, so her owner felt it would be in Sapphire’s best interest to find her a home who had more time for her.
Current:
Sapphire is in foster for recovery following being spayed and a couple of little lumps being removed.
We have discovered she is a cheeky, happy little soul with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. She’s the perfect blend of playful and chilled – whether it’s snuggling up for nap time or lounging nearby while you work, Sapphire is happiest when she’s with her people.
Visitors to the house are greeted with excitable tail wags and a few cheeky jumps – but she’s quick to remember her manners with a gentle reminder. She’s wonderfully tolerant of being handled and has been a superstar during her recovery, patiently wearing her onesie and bootie without fuss.
She loves playtime and is a tug of war enthusiast, but is also gentle when taking treats. She knows her basic commands and will offer up a paw for a tasty snack.
Sapphire has not exhibited any unwanted chewing behaviours while in foster, although has been known to hide the occasional slipper! She settles nicely overnight and is fine to be left for a few hours. She is always excited to see you when you come home.
Walking:
Sapphire stands nicely to put her harness, then once outside the house she’s keen to get going with her walk and get plenty of sniffs in. She likes to walk at a pace, but doesn’t pull on the lead. She has shown interest in other dogs while out, she hasn’t been tested up close for reactivity yet.
Travelling:
Sapphire travels nicely in the car, you don’t even know she’s there.
Vets:
Sapphire has seen the vet several times and is quite tolerant of being handled.
Health:
She has had a full health check including blood tests. All her bloods came back within normal ranges for her age.
When Sapphire first arrived both her ears were quite sore, so our vet put a monthly treatment in them and she had some Clotrimazole cream to help soothe them, this seems to have done the job.
She had several little lumps, one on either side of her hips and one on her front paw. These were removed at the same time of her spay on 16th October and she is healing nicely.
Histology result have shown they were all benign and of no concern.
She is on a poultry free diet to help her allergies.
Ideal home:
Sapphire would need to be the only pet in the home. Her previous family tell us she is reactive towards other dogs, this has not been tested. We have given her plenty of space when out walking, so we haven’t really seen any reactivity, she has shown some interest.
She could live with children aged 10 years +, she is quite a bouncy high energy dog and could knock smaller children over.
Sapphire would suit a fairly active home where she can be engaged with her people both indoors and out and about.
She is house trained, she can be left for a couple of hours and in this time hasn’t shown any unwanted chewing.
Standard information:
Sapphire is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered.
She is currently in foster in Worcestershire, but she can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her at least twice where he is now.
There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Sapphire and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
