HISTORY

Blue B is a super friendly boy who arrived with us recently due to his previous owners no longer being able to give him the attention he needs.

CURRENT

Blue B is currently settling into his foster home in Hampshire, while he recuperates from surgery to his left hind leg. His foster parents have said he’s only been here a couple of days, but is settling in nicely, and his wound is healing well. He is a super chilled boy who loved to see his volunteer walkers every day – as this meant walkies.

He does get a little excited when he knows he’s going out and sometimes chews his lead, however he hasn’t ragged it. He walks lovely in the company of other seniors and is more interested in his surrounding than he is the other dogs.

IDEAL HOME

We think Blue B would possibly be OK to be left for short periods of time, but would really love to have someone home the majority of the time. We are told he is a dog friendly boy and has lived with a calm older female for a short period. With careful introductions, he may be able to live with another dog. Due to his size we would like children to be 10 years and over Blue would not be able to live with cats or other small furries.

HEALTH ISSUES

Blue B has received a full health check and was given a clean bill of health. He did have a large lump on his back left leg, the vet checked this out and recommended it to be removed due to its size and the skin covering it was a little thin. We have had this removed and he is recovering in foster. The vets have advised the mass was a cyst.

WALKING

Blue B loves to go out for walks. He is quite strong on the lead, but is a good boy and doesn’t react to much when out and about. We are currently working on increasing the length of his walks to help him loose a little weight and increase his fitness. He really loves his walks and interaction with his walkers, his tail never stops wagging.

TRAVELLING

Up until Blue B went into foster, he had only travelled short distances with us. He has travelled in the back of the van and in the boot of the car. He has sat nicely, he was a little bit vocal, but soon settled down. He travelled to his foster home on the back seat with his foster mum sat next to him, which he loved.

VETS

Blue B had his health check a few weeks ago and he behaved amazingly at the vets. All the staff loved his calm friendly nature. He was not bothered by other dogs in the waiting area..

STANDARD INFORMATION

Blue B is vaccinated, microchipped and neutured.

He is currently in foster in Worcestershire. He can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him twice where he is at that time.

There is an adoption donation of £120 for Blue B and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.

HISTORY

Blue came to us from the pound. He has been in the pound kennels for a while.

CURRENT

Blue is currently at our Worcester kennels, where he is settling into our daily routine. He is a gentle shy boy, who takes a while to get to know you, but once he does, he loves you. He loves being told he is a good boy, and he really snuggles into your legs.

Blue hasn’t really shown any interest in toys or balls, but this could just be due to the kennel environment. He likes the meaty treats and is very gentle when taking them from you.

IDEAL HOME

The type of home we would like this lad is one where someone is home lots, he is a quiet shy boy, and would thrive on a one-to-one relationship with his special human.

Due to coming in from the pound, we are unsure if he is house trained, or if he would cope being left for periods of time. Blue would 100% need to be the only pet in the home, and will need 6ft solid secure fencing, as we know he is dog reactive and would definitely react to cats and small furies. Ideally in a low dog populated area.

HEALTH ISSUES

Blue has had a full health check including blood screening, all of this has come back healthy. Upon arriving with us, Blue did have a upset tummy, but we feel this was due to lots of changes for him. He also appeared to be lame on his back leg, he has had xrays, and the vets could not identify anything irregular in his back end/hips. He is currently being tested by the vets for arthritis, once we have a clear picture, this will be confirmed.

WALKING

Blue is a dream on the lead, he walks by your side, and you don’t know he’s there. He loves a good sniff in the hedges and undergrowth. We walk blue on his own, due to him being reactive. Kennels are quite rural, so it’s lots of lane walking and he has been a good boy walking past dogs in their gardens. We have given him lots of space, and he has walked past the dogs happily.

TRAVELLING

Blue has only travelled a couple of times with us, and every time he has been a good boy sitting nicely.

VETS

Blue has had x-rays recently, as he appeared to be a little stiff whilst out walking. The x-rays show the possible onset of arthritis in his chest/tummy region. The vets have prescribed Galliprant, which he takes once daily, and this seems to have helped. All of the other results from his bloods and full health check have come back normal.

He has possibly had a bad experience at the vets in the past and has been known to try and bite, therefore will need muzzle training for all vet visits. He is a super boy who has not shown any aggressive behaviour in his interactions with the walkers in any other situation during his time with SSC.
