Poppy came to us from a very loving home where her owner had to make the heart-breaking decision to give her up due to her long working hours, knowing this was the ultimate gift she could give to Poppy. Poppy had been struggling being left for long periods of time and was suffering from separation anxiety causing her to urinate in the house, which ultimately led to her doing this even when her owner was at home.
Poppy was initially assessed at our kennels and was found to be a very loving dog who craved lots of attention. After her vet check-up she was moved to a foster home so we could undertake further assessments. During her two weeks in her initial foster home where she had constant love and attention, as someone was home all day with her, she flourished and had no accidents in the house.
Poppy recently moved to another foster home and has come on leaps and bounds, although on occasions she will have an accident when left, but her foster Mum is working on this with her and our behaviourist have given us specific techniques to help Poppy overcome this and feel secure and confident to be left, knowing someone will return.
Poppy is a dinky little brindle and white Staffy weighing in at only 16kg. She has such a loving nature and just enjoys being with people. She also loves playing with her Kong and tennis ball. She enjoys nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa with you. She has never been socialised around young children but is happy with approximarely 8 year olds up. She loves her walks and is very good on the lead. She pulls initially but soon settles down. She is not keen on other dogs.
Poppy would benefit from someone who is home all day with her and who enjoys going out on long walks. Her new family must be willing to continue to work with her to overcome her separation anxiety. The love this little girl has to offer is second to none and anyone would be lucky to have her as part of the family.
Poppy is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is in foster in the Gloucester area, but can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her where she is now.
There is an adoption donation of £90 for Poppy and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
If you think you could offer Poppy a new home, please keep an eye on this page for the link to our online Adoption Form. For the moment though we are not making that option available.
