AGE: Approximately 9 years
TEMPERAMENT: Very friendly and happy
DOG FRIENDLY: Yes
CAT FRIENDLY: No
GOOD WITH CHILDREN: 12 years plus
Pumpkin came to us from a pound where she had been picked up as a stray. This means we don’t have any history on her at all.
Pumpkin is a very friendly, happy little girl. She loves interacting with her volunteer friends at kennels whether that’s having cuddles, going for walks, or playing – Pumpkin plays nicely and will drop her toys for you to throw again, but she does love to destroy her tennis balls!
We have walked Pumpkin with another dog at kennels and, whilst she was a little excited at first, she soon calmed down and walked alongside them before greeting them calmly. After her initial excitement she was more interested in looking for treats from the volunteers and ignored the other dog.
As we don’t have any history on Pumpkin, we would ideally be looking for a home with someone around for the majority of the time. We don’t know if she has ever lived with another dog, but may be able to following several successful introductions. Due to our limited history on her, we would like any children in the home to be 12 years and over. Pumpkin would be unable to live with any cats or small furrys.

Pumpkin has been given a clean bill of health from the vets. She had a cyst on her neck, but that has been drained and shouldn’t cause her any issues. It doesn’t need removing unless she was to go under anesthetic at any point in the future. The vets think they can see a spay scar, however we can’t be completely certain that Pumpkin has been spayed.
Pumpkin walks great on the lead and doesn’t pull. We are currently building up her stamina and, at the moment, she has about 2 half hour walks a day – she still has plenty of energy to play in the paddock afterwards though! She loves being out and about and her tail never stops wagging!
We’ve only travelled short distances with Pumpkin in our van and she’s coped quite well. She’s a bit vocal at first but soon settles and is quieter on her way back.
Pumpkin went to the vets for her check-up recently and was a very good girl. There were other dogs in the waiting room, and she was very calm around them. She let the vet examine her without any issues and was well behaved for her blood tests.
Pumpkin is vaccinated, microchipped and we believe her to be spayed (if it transpires she does need spaying SSC will cover the cost for this to be done).
She is in kennels in Stoke-on-Trent, but can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her twice where she is at that time.
There is an adoption donation of £120 for Pumpkin and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
