Hello there… we are Sid and Jackie, we are 11 and 12 years old - well I’m the older one at 12, and Jackie is my younger girlfriend. We have been together ever since I can remember, and we had a family for all that time too, but our luck changed recently when our Mom died, and now our Dad has had to go back to another country across the sea, so we found ourselves homeless.
Senior Staffy Club came to the rescue, and they have been very kind to us, but for a little while we have been in kennels, which was a bit scary, and Jackie stopped eating for a while. But tomorrow we are moving to a frosty home and we think we’re going to love it there!
We both have a bit of middle-aged spread and are not very fit, so we can only manage short, slow walks at the moment. I’ve had a chest infection that has made me even slower than Jackie, but I’m taking some meds for that now so I’m hoping I will feel better very soon, and may even be able to walk a bit faster! I was very good at the vets, even though I say so myself. Jackie sat up a corner and hoped the vet wouldn’t notice her, but she’s a bit big to hide! Anyway he gave her a clean bill of health, so that’s good.
In our home we used to have chicken and gravy for our supper, but we don’t mind too much what we eat, as long as we have somewhere comfy to snuggle up together and some fuss. I like fuss best of all. Jackie is a bit more wary of people to start with, but she soon comes round once she gets to know you. I’ll accept fuss from anyone! That’s probably because I’m a staffy and Jackie is a bit boxer. She’s bigger than me, so I’m not about to criticise her! (Teehee, just kidding, we get on very well – we even share our food.)
We haven’t lived with cats or young children, but we like children; our neighbour at our old home had a little boy, and he used to hang out with us quite often. We don't mind other dogs when we're out and about, although Jackie is nervous of some... but we don't imagine anyone who already has dogs will want us to come home with them, unless they want a big pack!
We want to find a home together, but we’re no trouble! Given that we don’t need long walks, and just really want some company and somewhere comfy for our retirement.
I don’t like being left alone very much, but I can cope for a few hours, especially if Jackie is about. We both missed each other the other day when I had to go for my chest x-rays. She was taken out for a walk but she didn’t want to go, and tried to go straight back to our kennel to see if I was back yet.
We’d love to meet you if you’re the sort of person who wants to have two doddery old brindles round the house and garden. We travel beautifully by car - we just lie down together in the back and have a snooze.
