Ada

SEX: Female
AGE: 9 Years Old
LOCATION: Worcestershire
CHILDREN: 10 years plus
DOGS: Hasn’t reacted to on-lead dogs out walking, but would need to be only dog in the home
CATS: No

History:
Ada came to the Senior Staffy Club on the 15th September from our friends who rescued her and brought her over from Romania. Very little history is known about this beautiful girl.

Current:
Ada is currently at our Worcester kennels, where she has settled well into her daily routine. She is a beautiful soul who adores people and would love cuddles all day long. She can get a little stressed when she is returned to her kennel as she wants to be with you, but she soon settled down with her Kong bone.

Ada is a firm favourite with her volunteer walkers. When she came to kennels, she didn’t know what toys were, or how to play with them. Her volunteers have taken the time to play with her and her favourite items are her peanut butter-filled Kong, and her Kong bone with the Kong biscuits in the end. We think that because she has never had toys, and now she loves them, she isn’t always keen to give them up. She is also doing really well with her sit command.

Walking:
Ada walks beautifully on the lead -- you really don’t know she is beside you. She is a polite girl, and a pleasure to walk. When she first arrived, she really wasn’t sure of the traffic on the rural roads around kennels. She has been with us for several weeks now and her confidence is growing each day.

Travelling:
We have only travelled once; she was a good girl, but wasn’t comfortable with it, and was quite dribbly. This will improve in time.

Vets:
Ada is a good girl for the vets, she just wants to kiss them.

Health issues:
Ada has had her full health check from our vets, and her routine blood tests have shown her Urea Nitrogen levels in her blood are slightly raised. Having chatted with the vets, they have advised it could be signs of kidney changes. She will be tested again next week, as the other blood test for kidneys was fine. The vet has advised that at her age he doesn’t feel it is anything to worry about.

Her teeth are worn, possibly from chewing kennel bars, but they aren’t any cause for concern.

Ideal home:
Due to not knowing much about Ada’s history, we do not know whether she has ever lived in a home, or if she is house-trained. The type of home we would like for her is one where she would not be left on her own for too long; she adores people, and we don’t feel she would cope being left for long periods.

We feel she would love to live in a family home with older children aged 10 years or over, who would play with her, but also be old enough to understand to give her her own space. Ada would need to be the only pet in the home. She hasn’t been cat tested, and although she has been a good girl and doesn’t take any notice of dogs in their gardens, or on-leads dogs out walking, we are told she could be reactive in her kennels in Romania.

Standard information:
Ada is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

She is in kennels in Worcester, but can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her twice where she is at that time.

There is an adoption donation of £120 for Ada and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
