History:
Beau arrived at the Senior Staffy Club after his dad passed away and his mum wasn’t able to look after him.
When he arrived he was a little stressed. He has since settled into our kennel routine and he loves his daily walks. He’s our little pocket rocket.
Current:
He is currently in our Worcester kennels. Beau is super friendly and loves being around people. When he arrived, we felt he was in pain with his right hind leg, and on a couple of occasions he has air snapped around the walkers and staff.
He has since been seen by our vets and he is now on pain relief and he is back to his happy little ball of energetic self.
He is a clever boy, he is very good at sitting in a meercat pose for his treats, which he takes nicely.
He loves you to put treats in the snuffle mat and Kong wobbler for him to find.
He hasn’t really shown much interest in cuddling, he is on the go most of the time.
Walking:
Beau is always keen to go out for his walks, he gets a little excited when he knows its his turn to go.
He harnesses well and walks well, he is a rare Staffy, as he doesn’t melt in the rain...he loves splashing in the puddles!
Beau has not been dog tested, but he has happily walked in other dogs’ company in a calm lead environment with a safe distance between the dogs.
He doesn’t react to the other dogs in their gardens barking whilst we walk down the lanes, but he does have a little bark and bounce at his neighbours whilst in the pens waiting for his turn to walk.
After his walk love loves to visit the sofa room where he is able to play with the Kong wobbler and the snuffle mat, he loves these as he is food orientated.
Travelling:
Beau has travelled very well in the charity van, he just lays down patiently.
Vets:
The vets visited Beau at kennels to complete his health check, blood tests and vaccinations. He was a good boy for the vet.
He allowed the vet to examine his hind legs, as very soon after he arrived he was displaying pain in his right hind leg.
Health:
Beau has had full health check, including blood tests, and all his results have come back normal.
The vets confirmed his has arthritis in his back leg and prescribed Gabapentin, Rimadyl and Tralieve.
We now have his pain under control and he is currently only on Gabapentin and Rimadyl and he seems a happy little boy.
As a 4.5 month old pup, Beau fractured his left hind leg, but this has not caused him any problems.
Ideal home:
We feel Beau would be happiest as the only dog in the home and we are unsure if he has ever lived with another dog. He hasn’t been dog tested, but hasn’t seemed bothered by other dogs whilst out walking.
Beau is quite a bouncy, playful boy. His owner’s family are unsure whether he has ever lived with children, so we feel any resident children would need to be older…. 12 years +.
Beau needs a quiet calm home where he can settle, he has had quite a lot of change since the passing of his dad.
Standard information:
Beau is microchipped and vaccinated. He is currently in our Worcester kennels, but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is now.
There is a non refundable adoption donation of £120 for Beau and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care
