Benji

SEX: Male
AGE: 10 Years Old
LOCATION: Stoke-on-Trent
CHILDREN: 12 years plus
DOGS: Doesn’t show any interest and so would be better as the only dog in the home
CATS: No

History:
Benji came to us from a local pound. We don’t have much history on him, but we do know he has been in and out of kennels his whole life.

Current:
Benji is a lovely calm boy who all the volunteer walkers at kennels love. He was a shy, nervous boy at first but has blossomed during his time with us. He can still need a little reassurance on walks if he gets nervous but is getting better all the time.

His favourite things are treats, walkies and having a fuss. He hasn’t shown any interest in toys whilst with us and prefers to spend time having cuddles with his volunteer friends.

Walking:
Benji loves to go for his walks and gets very excited to get going. However, he walks brilliantly on the lead without pulling at all.

Travelling:
Benji has travelled short distances in the van whilst in our care. He whines a little at first, but soon settles down and is quiet for the rest of the journey.

Vets:
The vets said what a lovely well-mannered boy Benji was when he had his recent health check-up. He happily went into the vets and was a good boy for his examination.

Health issues:
He’s been given a clean bill of health by the vets after his check-up. He may have slight vision loss but nothing that isn’t normal for an older dog – this doesn’t seem to affect him in any way.

He does need to put some weight on, as he came to us a skinny boy (most likely due to kennel stress) – he has not yet been neutered for this reason, but this will need to be done once he is a healthier weight.

Ideal home:
We would ideally like a calm quiet home, with older children only, for Benji to allow him to settle. As we don’t know much about Benji’s past, we would also like someone to be around for most of the time as we don’t know how he copes with being left. He doesn’t show much interest in other dogs, even when a few loose ones have run up to him, so we think he would be better as an only dog with no other pets.

Standard information:
Benji is vaccinated and microchipped. He has not been neutered due to him being underweight, but it will be part of his adoption agreement that this is done when he is at a healthier weight with costs covered by SSC.

There is an adoption donation of £120 for Benji, and all money donated goes directly to helping all the seniors in our care.
