History:
Denzil came to us via the police, after his owner was found deceased.
Current:
Denzil is currently in our Worcester kennels.
He is proving to be a really lovely boy and he is a firm favourite with the walkers.
He can be quite vocal, this is normally when he is telling you you’re taking too long to get out walking!
Walking:
Denzil is a big boy, but walks beautifully on the lead. He is polite and doesn’t pull. He has been walking past dogs without showing any interest in them most of the time.
On a couple of occasions, on-lead dogs have barked at him when passing out walking and he has had a little bark back, but he soon calms down.
We are currently building up his walking time as we are unsure if he was walked in his previous home. He is up to 30 – 40 minutes.
Here is what a few of his volunteer walkers say:
‘Denzil walks great on the lead and does listen to you when you ask him to wait. He wasn’t phased by cars nor bicycles’
‘He’s such a lovely boy! He walked perfectly, very happy to trot along with us and enjoyed having a sniff around’
‘Handsome Denzil, he shouted at me to get moving before we started! He trotted along lovely, tail wagging’
Travelling:
Denzil has not travelled with us yet, but this will be tested in the very near future.
Vets:
The vets have visited Denzil at kennels several times. He isn’t keen on the vets, and cries a little, but is good and stands still.
He is fully vaccinated, including kennel cough
Health issues:
Denzil has had a full health check, including blood test, and all has come back as normal. He doesn’t need any medication.
Dogs:
Denzil has not been introduced to other dogs, so we are unsure whether he would need to be the only dog.
Out walking he will generally walk past dogs in gardens or dogs being walked. On a couple of occasions, other dogs have barked at him and he has had a little bark back, but he doesn’t pull towards them and is happy to continue walking past.
He doesn’t appear to be interested in other dogs when he is passing them in kennels. However, he has not been tested with us.
Ideal home:
Denzil is looking for a home where is he is the only dog. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs whilst out walking, but we are unsure if he has ever lived with another dog.
He is a very big lad, so children would need to be aged 10 years +.
We do not have any history on Denzil, but we know he loves company, so someone who isn’t going to leave him for long periods of time would be perfect.
Standard information:
Denzil is vaccinated and microchipped. He is not neutered at the moment, so if it hasn’t been done before finding his forever home, this will need to be done at the cost of Senior Staffy Club.
He is currently in kennels in Worcester but he can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet him at least twice where he is at the moment.
There is an adoption donation of £120 for Denzil and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
