History:
Mavis came to SSC as she wasn’t getting on with another dog in the home.

Current:
Mavis is a very sweet-natured, friendly girl. She just wants to be loved and adored – everyone she meets is a friend who is expected to give her tummy rubs!

She hasn’t really shown any interest in toys whilst with us, her favourite thing is to sit with our volunteers and be fussed – she’s only happy if she’s being stroked and would be fussed all day if she could!

Walking:
Mavis has never really been a fan of going for walks. She’s slowly growing in confidence with us and can do walks of around 5-10 minutes. She’s starting to be eager to go a little further and exploring more in the hedges etc.

Her adopters will need to continue to build Mavis’ confidence and stamina up so that she can become happier to go for longer walks.

When she is walking, she doesn’t pull at all and is very easy to walk.

Travelling:
Mavis hasn’t travelled much in the past. We took her on a 15-minute car journey and, although she was a little stressed, she coped really well and settled down quite quickly.

Vets:
We took Mavis to our vets for a check up and routine bloods and she was as good as gold for both. She was also very well behaved in the waiting room and didn’t react to any dogs or cats that were also in there.

Health issues:
Mavis’ blood tests have all come back completely normal.

She does need to have a dental, but that will be done shortly and before she is adopted. Other than that, she has a clean bill of health.

Ideal home:
Mavis needs a pet-free home. She didn’t get on with a dog in her previous home but may be able to make dog friends on walks. We also know that she has previously lived with a cat and would chase them.
She can live with children 10 years plus, but she can jump up and want a lot of attention!
Mavis can be left for short periods, up to 4 hours once she has settled into her new home, though she would probably prefer to have someone around for the majority of the time.

Standard information:
Mavis is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

She is currently in our Stoke-On-Trent kennels, but she can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her at least twice where she is now.

There is a non-refundable adoption donation of £120 for Mavis and all money donated goes directly to helping all the Senior Staffies in our care.
